Frequently Asked Questions

ADJUSTMENTS & CARE

How do I adjust these glasses at home?

We have two easy recommendations on how to adjust your glasses at home:

TRY THIS FIRST

All of our frames have adjustable comfort tips! This means that the end of the temple arm (the rubbery part) can be bent downward to have a more snug fit behind your child’s ears to keep the glasses in place up on their nose. CLICK HERE for step-by-step instructions on how to do this!

TRY THIS SECOND

We balance every frame before shipping them out but sometimes the temple arms can bow out slightly due to either the shape of the prescription lenses (as some tend to flatten out the frame) or due to the frames shipping snug in their case. CLICK HERE for step-by-step instructions on how to do this - all you’ll need is a hairdryer and some cold water!

What is the best way to clean my child's glasses?

For day-to-day cleaning of light smudges, a few swipes of the cleaning cloth included in your case should do the trick. When you order the glasses from us, we recommend adding some of our Lens Cleaner to your cart! This is great to use when the smudges are being stubborn, or you need a better clean.

Please be careful to avoid using hot water on your lenses, as they can develop bubbles or cracks when exposed to high heat.

Do not use tissues, paper towels, your shirt, or any harsh chemicals as they may scratch your lenses or damage the coating on the frames.

FRAMES & SIZING

What is the difference between the boy and girl frames?

Nothing, actually! All of our frames are gender neutral and work great for both boys glasses and girls glasses.

The frame shapes are all the same whether you are looking at the boy or girl version (for example, for the frame marked “Paul/Paige”, the Paul is the boy version and the Paige is the girl version)!

Is there a way I can try on the glasses before ordering them as prescription?

We offer a Home Try-On Kit that is perfect for trying on our glasses! We get that ordering kids glasses online can be intimidating, so ordering one of our kits can help put you at ease while placing your order for prescription glasses.

The kit only costs $1, allows you to try out 7 of our frames for 7 days, and has free shipping both ways. Plus, there’s no obligation to purchase if none of the frames suit you (...but of course we are crossing our fingers that you love them)!

What material are your frames made of?

All of our frames are made of either the highest quality custom cellulose acetate or metal. While they are very durable and made with kids in mind, please keep in mind they are not indestructible! We always strongly encourage our customers to educate their children in caring for their glasses to prevent any unnecessary damage!

Pro tip: Order two pairs at once so you have a back-up pair, using the code SECONDPAIR50 to save 50% off the second frames on your order! And, once you’re using your back-up pair, don’t forget to order a new pair to back-up your back-up pair ;)

Will these glasses fit my toddler?

Our frames are designed to fit most 4+ year olds, but we do have some 2-3 year old toddlers that are big enough to wear our glasses. Our smallest size frame is our Paul/Paige frame, which measures at 43-15-125.

We always recommend ordering one of our Home Try-On Kits to see if our glasses might work for your child! Who wouldn’t want to let their kids try on glasses at home and have fun along the way?

What size are your glasses and what age children do they fit?

Our eyeglasses are designed to fit most children between the ages of 4-16 years old.

We have three sizes: Kids Small, Kids Large, and Teen and have listed the general ages below that those sizes work for. That said, every face is different! We have some 2-3 year olds who wear our frames, and also a lot of adults who wear our frames.

The specific frame measurements vary depending on the exact style (for example, the size small Paul/Paige measures differently than the size small Miles/Maddie). The measurement ranges for our different frame sizes are as follows:

Kids Small (Ages 4-7) Kids Large (Ages 8-12) Teen (Ages 12-16)
  • Lens width between 43-45mm
  • Bridge width between 15-16mm
  • Temple arm length is 125mm
  • Lens width between 46-48mm
  • Bridge width between 15-16mm
  • Temple arm length is 130mm
  • Lens width between 49-52mm
  • Bridge width between 15-20mm
  • Temple arm length is 140mm

What are my optical frame's measurements?

All of our frames (and even most non-Jonas Paul Eyewear glasses!) include the frame measurements on the inside of the temple arm. The measurements are listed as a series of three numbers typically in a format such as 43-15-125, and refer to the lens width, bridge width, and temple arm length in millimeters.

HOME TRY-ON KIT

How does the Home Try-On process work?

Our Home Try-On Kits are the easiest way to try on glasses at home before committing to them as prescription glasses! The kit costs $1, includes seven frames, and allows you to see the glasses in person for seven full days. We include a prepaid return label with your shipment!

** Please note: we are only able to send one kit per house hold at a time!

The process itself is simple:

  1. Place an order for either a kids try-on kit or teen try-on kit.
We have a few sizing and color options of pre-selected kits that you can pick from!
  2. When your kit arrives with the frames, you have seven days to have fun at home and decide which pair works best.
  3. Once you've decided on your favorite frame shape, refer to our handy ordering guide to see the colors available in that style, then write down your favorite on the order checklist that was in the kit.
We also include a PD (pupillary distance) measurement tool in the kit in case that’s not written on your prescription. (What is the PD and why is it needed to order glasses?)
  4. Once your seven days are up, it’s time to send the kit back to us (including ALL of the frames), and head to our website with your order checklist in hand to purchase your favorite pair!

How much does the kit cost?

Our Home Try-On Kit only costs $1, and shipping is free both ways!

Please note:
Unreturned Home Try-On Kits that have exceeded the allotted time of 7 days to have the kit will have a temporary fee of $395 placed on credit card used for the order. This charge will be refunded once we receive the kit back. (Rest assured, we will send a reminder email before charging!).

If the kit is returned to Jonas Paul Eyewear with a damaged frame, there will be a charge of $79 per damaged frame added to your card. This charge also applies if you keep a frame from the Home Try-On Kit.
You are not responsible for frames that were damaged during transport, though!

How do I return my Home Try-On Kit?

Don't forget: you can send the kit back BEFORE you order prescription glasses online! Simply keep your completed order checklist that came with the kit so you remember which frames were your favorites :)

How to return:

  1. Place ALL of the frames back to the kit box - even include the frame that you liked best!
  2. Seal the packaging tightly so the kit box doesn’t open during transport.
  3. Adhere the pre-paid return label on the outside of the package (or email orders@jonaspauleyewear.com for a new return label).
  4. Drop the kit off at the respective mail carrier (UPS or USPS - if USPS, you can place the kit in your mailbox!) and wait for them to handle the rest!

Which frames are available to try in the kit?

Every kids-sized kit includes seven frames and a variety of colors.

All of the frames included in these kits are pre-selected and cannot be customized.

If you would like to try a frame that is not included in any of the kits, you are welcome to order that frame as non-prescription (frame only) and return within 30 days for a full refund.*

*Note: The customer is responsible to pay for the return shipping of non-prescription frames.

Limit 1 Home Try-On Kit per household at a time!

Can I order multiple Home Try-On Kits?

We only allow one home try-on kit of any variety at a time per household (even if they are different sizes and/or colors).

If you’re not sure which size will work best, we’d recommend starting with the kit that you think will fit best! If you receive that kit doesn’t seem to fit, you may send it back and follow the same process with another size.

How can I request a new return label for my Home Try-On Kit?

That’s easy! Email orders@jonaspauleyewear.com and they would be happy to send over a new, pre-paid return label that you can print off at home. When you are returning the kit, don’t forget to include ALL of the frames!

How long may I keep the frames before sending the kit back?

Once the kit has been delivered to you, you have SEVEN DAYS to try out the frames. For example, if you receive the kit on a Monday, you have until the following Monday to try them out.

Do you offer Home Try-On Kits for your sunglasses?

We do not offer this as an option at this time! However, you're welcome to order any of our non-prescription frames and return them within 30 days in unworn condition for a full refund. You'd just be responsible for the return shipping.

INSURANCE

Does Jonas Paul accept insurance?

While we do not accept insurance directly, we can provide an itemized receipt that you are able to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Our insurance page includes links to download the out-of-network claim forms for reimbursement requests. The average frame reimbursement is $75!

If you need a detailed receipt, send your request via email to orders@jonaspauleyewear.com.

Can I pay using an FSA or HSA?

Yes, you absolutely can use an FSA or HSA to purchase our glasses! You'll simply enter the card information at checkout the same way you would with a regular credit or debit card.

Head over to our FSA and HSA page for more information!

Do you ship outside of the United States?

At this time, we do not ship prescription glasses or Home Try-On Kits outside of the United States.

However, we DO ship non-prescription (frame only) frames outside the US that you may purchase and have the prescription lenses filled locally near you.

You’re welcome to contact us at hi@jonaspauleyewear.com if you’re curious about whether we ship to a certain location!

Please note that there will be an international fee for us to ship outside of the United States. All applicable duties, tariffs, and customs fees are the responsibility of the customer.

Note: There are prescription limitations for our free Basic Polycarbonate lenses.

We do have other upgrades available as well! Send a picture of your prescription over to hi@jonaspauleyewear.com and we’d be happy to take a look and let you know which lenses we recommend.

Do your sunglass lenses offer UV protection, and are they polarized?

Our sunglass lenses offer 100% UV protection, have a UV400 coating, and have a backside anti-reflective coating, which means your kiddo's eyes will be protected from all angles - even when the sun is behind them! While the sunglasses are not polarized, they still protect against the sun's harmful rays.

ORDERING

How do I submit the prescription and PD measurement?

The easiest way is just to upload both items while adding the items to your cart for your order of kids or teen glasses.

When you are adding a frame to your cart on our website, you’ll be prompted to either upload the prescription then or email it later. If you choose to upload the prescription with the order, you can also enter the Pupillary Distance measurement as either a singular measurement or a dual measurement.
If you choose to email the prescription over later, be sure to include a full copy of the prescription and send the PD measurement! This can be sent to orders@jonaspauleyewear.com
or text a picture of the prescription and PD to (616) 202-5844, including your order number for our reference.

Can I make changes to my order?

We process orders pretty quickly once they have been placed, but if you’re hoping to change your order please email orders@jonaspauleyewear.com as soon as possible and we will do our best to honor your request.

What is the best way to order glasses for multiple prescriptions?

When you're interested in placing orders for multiple pairs of glasses that have different prescriptions, such as a mother-daughter order or a brother-sister order, we recommend place those orders as separate orders!

This is will ensure that each pair is filled with the intended prescription, creating happy eyes for everyone.

Can I purchase just the frames and have the prescription filled locally?

Yes! If you would like to fill the prescription on your own with your local eye doctor that is completely fine. Once you’ve decided on the frame style, size, and color you’ll simply select the "Frames Only - Excludes Lenses" option and then finalize payment of your order!

If my child has a high prescription, can you fill it?

Most likely the answer is yes! However, please know that some higher prescriptions may be required to upgrade lenses (to help keep the lenses thinner), and may need to switch to our "Plus" line of lenses, depending on the prescription. Someone from our team will notify you if this is the case.

You’re always welcome to send an email to hi@jonaspauleyewear.com and we’d be happy to verify that we can or cannot fill the prescription, and also make a recommendation on what type of lenses would work best for the prescription!

What do I need to place my prescription order?

In order to fill any prescription orders, we will need two items from you:

1) A valid (non-expired) copy of the prescription that we will be filling.

2) The PD (Pupillary Distance) measurement for that prescription. This is required to ensure that the lenses are correctly centered within the frames!

Don’t see the PD measurement on the prescription? No problem. If you ordered a Home Try-On Kit from us there was a measurement tool included, or you can use just a regular ruler. The measurement is simply the distance in millimeters from the center of one pupil to the center of the other pupil. Or, your eye doctor might have this measurement on file.

CLICK HERE to read our step-by-step instructions on how to measure this at home.

Can I order your sunglass frames with prescription sunglass lenses?

Unfortunately, our kids sunglasses and teens sunglasses are only offered as non-prescription at this time! However, the rest of our kids glasses and teen glasses (all of our other "regular" optical frames) can be turned into prescription sunglasses! You'll simply select the Prescription Polarized Sunglass Lens option when adding the frame to your cart.

My child's prescription is expired - can you still process my order using that prescription?

We highly recommend that you get an updated prescription and will be happy to hold your order while you do so! Prescriptions that have an exam date from 2019 and later are accepted but there will be a "Prescription Agreement" form that you will need to be filled out before processing your order.

PROGRESSIVES & BIFOCALS

Do you offer Progressive or Bifocal lenses?

Unfortunately, we are unable to fill prescriptions with progressive or bifocal lenses. These specific types of prescriptions require additional measurements that are best taken with the frames on the patient's face.

That said, you can order any of our frames as non-prescription and have the lenses filled at your local eye doctor's office! OR you can order them as Single Vision Distance or Single Vision Readers! You're welcome to email hi@jonaspauleyewear.com if you have any specific questions or need clarification on if your prescription requires progressive or bifocal lenses.

RETURNS & CANCELLATIONS

How do I return non-prescription glasses that I ordered?

Please head over to our returns page to submit your return request!

We will accept returns on any non-prescription (frame only) purchases within 30 days of delivery date as long as the frame is returned to us in its original condition. Customer is responsible for the cost of shipping your return back to us. We suggest using a shipping method with delivery confirmation, as Jonas Paul Eyewear is not responsible for return packages lost in transit.

After you have submitted your return request, you will receive an automated email with a brief form to complete, as well as the address to send the frames back to.

Please know that your refund may take up to 10 business days to be reflected on your account (depending on your bank’s processing time).

Can I return my prescription order?

Unfortunately, we do not accept returns on a frame that has had a prescription fulfilled, as all of our glasses are considered custom orders. The only exception is if our lab made a mistake with the prescription or if the frame you received has any manufacturer’s defects.

If you have any specific questions about your order, please contact service@jonaspauleyewear.com and they can best help you out!

Am I able to return my non-prescription sunglasses or non-prescription blue light glasses?

We of course hope that you and your kiddos love your new kids non-prescription sunglasses, but if you receive them and they are not what you expected or they don't fit how you anticipated, you may return them within 30 days in unworn condition for a full refund.

Simply email service@jonaspauleyewear.com and they'll help walk you through the process! You'll just be asked to fill out our returns form to include with the sunnies upon their return, and will be required to pay the return shipping to get the kids sunglasses back to us.

NOTE: The cute little glasses brandmark at the top of the left lens is meant to be there! Sunnies will NOT be accepted for returns if this has been scratched off. Sunglasses must be in brand new, unworn condition to be eligible for returns.

Can I cancel my order?

Our lab processes orders quickly to keep your wait time minimal! For that reason, only prescription order cancellation requests made within 24 hours are eligible for a full refund. Cancellation requests for prescription orders made after 24 hours of final order confirmation are subject to a 15% restocking fee.

SHIPPING

How quickly will my order be shipped?

The processing time depends on a few things! That includes: what you ordered, whether your order is complete (for example, do we have your prescription & PD measurement?), and when you placed your order.

Our typical order turnaround time is as follows (NOTE: Our turnaround times during Back to School Season and Black Friday can take 10-14 business days for processing, plus 3-5 business days for standard shipping):

Home Try-On Kits: Orders typically ship within 1-2 business days of being placed (Monday-Friday), plus 3-5 business days for standard shipping.

Non-Prescription: Orders typically ship within 1-2 business days of being placed (Monday-Friday), plus 3-5 business days for standard shipping.

Prescription Orders: Once we have received your prescription and PD measurement and confirmed the lens selection your prescription requires, our typical turnaround time is 5-7 business days, plus 3-5 business days for standard shipping.*

For orders where our Plus lenses are required or upgrades are required (we will notify you if this is the case!), our typical turnaround time is 7-10 business days, plus 3-5 business days for shipping.

Business days are Monday-Friday, excluding national holidays. If your order is placed on Saturday or Sunday, it will be processed on the following business day.

Once your order has been processed, we will send you an “order update” email with your tracking number so you can monitor the status of your order online.

What kind of shipping is available?

We have three shipping options available: USPS First Class, USPS Priority & UPS Ground.

USPS First Class: We offer FREE standard shipping (in-transit ship time of 4-6 business days) to anywhere in the United States for both our home try-on kits as well as non-prescription and prescription orders (some products and upgrades will charge for shipping).

USPS Priority: This costs $8.99 (in-transit ship time of 2-3 business days) and is available for address in the United States.

UPS Ground: This costs $9.99 (in-transit ship time of 1-5 business days) and is available for address in the United States.
*$12.99 for Home Try-On Kits.

Note: The order processing time is not included in the shipping times.

What if my tracking shows that my order has been lost, stalled, or already delivered but can’t be found?

While it is not common, sometimes packages can have a mind of their own! If a package is marked as “Delivered” by the USPS, first and foremost we recommend checking around your home/mailbox to ensure that it didn’t get placed in an odd location (such as inside your garage or under patio furniture), or that it didn’t get accidentally delivered to a neighbor’s home.

On occasion, the package will be marked as “Delivered” before it has actually arrived at its final destination. Please allow a few business days for your order to arrive should this be the case, and check with your actual USPS delivery person to see if they might know where it was placed.

Completed those two steps and still haven’t had any luck receiving your order? Send us an email over to orders@jonaspauleyewear.com and we can help figure out a solution.

VIRTUAL TRY-ON

What is Virtual Try-On?

Our Virtual Try-On feature allows you to virtually try-on our eyeglasses and sunglasses so you can get a sense of how the frame shape, color and size looks on your face! This feature is available on our website via the "Virtual Try-On" button located on our frame or sunglasses product pages as well as on our iPhone / Android mobile app. Our mobile app also allows you to scan your facial features to determine pupillary distance measurements (*measurement feature only compatible with iPhoneX or newer).

Let us know if you have any questions! Email us at orders@jonaspauleyewear.com

WARRANTY & REPAIR

Is there a warranty on your glasses?

In general, yes! While we do NOT offer a warranty on our non-prescription sunglasses or non-prescription blue light glasses, all of our standard optical glasses do have a warranty available through JPE Care and our 30 Day Warranty.

Here is the general lay of the land:

Purchase JPE Care ($14.99) with each pair of prescription glasses or non-prescription optical frame at check out for one-time warranty coverage up to one year. If something happens within one year of purchase, please send a photo to service@jonaspauleyewear.com so we can get a new pair of glasses ready for you! Please note we will use the same frame size, style, color, and prescription. JPE Care does not cover lost or stolen glasses.

Head over to our Warranty page to read our full policy details and learn more about our Service Fees.

How durable are the glasses from Jonas Paul Eyewear?

All of our frames are made of either the highest quality custom cellulose acetate or metal and created with kids in mind, but please keep in mind they are not indestructible! We always strongly encourage our customers to educate their children in caring for their glasses to prevent any unnecessary damage.

Pro tip: Order two pairs at once so you have a back-up pair, using the code SECONDPAIR50 to save 50% off the second frames on your order! And, once you’re using your back-up pair, don’t forget to order a new pair to back-up your back-up pair ;)
